The Role

The FIM is a challenging and rewarding role and sits at the heart of the Force Control Room, acting as the key decision maker for all incidents coming into the Force. Trained as an Initial Tactical Firearms Commander the post also carries the responsibility for managing the initial response to all critical and major incidents reported to the Force.

The successful candidate will supervise the effective and efficient running of the Force Control Room, being accountable for all aspects of contact, resource and demand management and for ensuring that Force Control Room business processes are managed in a competent and professional manner, which meets Force performance and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To oversee the daily management of all aspects of the FCR and quality assure all productivity, particularly in the management of the Crime Resolution and the Demand Resolution functions.
  • To promote the operating principles of prompt and meaningful action for all communities in Humberside Police, and the achievement of the most complete and proportionate outcomes possible in the most effective and efficient way.
  • To actively promote the ethos of public service to staff and colleagues.
  • Acts as Force Spontaneous Silver in relation to Critical Incident Management, and in support of other appropriate command structures.

Skills and experience:

  • Has a broad range of knowledge relating to support and technical services available to the police service.
  • Has an understanding of the local and social issues which surround the role of the police.
  • Will be expected to undertake and qualify as an Initial Tactical Firearms Commander Silver Firearms Commander to remain in the role.

Relocation:

Humberside Police offer relocation/removal expenses of up to a maximum £8000 to transferring officers who live outside the force area and at least 50 miles from their permanent place of work.

Eligible Criteria:

To be eligible to transfer to Humberside Police, you must:

  • Be a current serving officer in a Home Office force
  • Have no outstanding discipline or integrity issues
  • Have resided in the UK for three years immediately prior to submitting your application, or able to provide a Certificate of Good Conduct from the relevant country
  • Have successfully completed your probationary period with your Force prior to submitting your application

Due to the changes to entry routes for police officers and IPLDP no longer being an accredited training course, at this time we are unable to accept applications from police officers from Non- Home Office forces.   The reason for this is due to these officers requiring initial training which is now unable under the new programme.  We hope to find a solution as soon as possible.
