An opening has emerged for 1 full time Data & Information Governance Officers to join the Information Management team working within Digital Policing.

Role Overview: We are looking for proactive, highly motivated and organised individuals to join our team and support our Information Governance functions. In this role, you will help support the wider organisation ensure it complies with Data Protection Principles by providing advice and support in relation to queries, providing training and awareness to recruits and testing understanding through monitoring and audit activity in line with relevant legislation, standards, and accreditations.
You will play a key part in supporting innovation by carrying our assessments for new and innovative uses of data, ensuring ethical and legal standards are maintained. What is Data Governance? Data governance is all about establishing and embedding policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the data we collect and use every day is of good quality, held lawfully and securely, and is used responsibly and ethically. Effective data governance helps us make informed decisions, comply with regulations, and protect sensitive information while pushing forward with new and innovative data and technology uses.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supporting the development and implementation of data governance policies and procedures.
• Support force data governance initiatives by producing dashboards and reporting to support daily business and provide oversight for appropriate meetings.
• Deliver Data Protection Awareness training to new staff and officers entering the organisation, helping to embed a strong data focussed culture.
• Be the point of contact for the Information Management Service desk, supporting force information users with advice and guidance, signposting to appropriate policies and standards, or escalating queries if appropriate.
• Conduct audits in line with Annual Plans to ensure adherence to policies and standards, supporting a continuous improvement culture.
Qualifications:
• Good IT knowledge including use of IT systems, databases, social media and Microsoft Office products ie. Power BI dashboards
• Good communication skills, with the ability to deliver content to diverse audiences, including senior management, data technical and non-technical personnel
• Knowledge of Data Protection standards, policies and procedures
• Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proven experience in a results based, continuous improvement environment, ensuring customer satisfaction and ensuring adherence to deadlines.
