Introduction

Counter Terrorism Policing North West (CTPNW) is a five-force collaboration delivering Counter Terrorism (CT) services to our regional forces as well as forming part of the national CT Network. CTPNW’s mission is to work together to keep people safe from terrorism.

Applications are invited for the post of CTPNW Intelligence Assessor, within the HQ Crime Division based at Lancashire Constabulary's Headquarters in Hutton, Preston.

The purpose of this role is to act as a Case Officer on Lead investigations and Priority Operations as identified under the Intelligence Handling Model (IHM);

To receive, assess and manage information and intelligence in accordance with the National Standards for Intelligence Management (NSIM) and Intelligence Handling Model, highlighting threat and risk to the IMU manager and carry out development where appropriate;

To Act as a Case Officer on lead Investigations to disrupt individuals or groups whose activities fall within the definition of Counter Terrorism including Right Wing Terrorism (RWT) and Left Wing, Anarchist or Single Issue Terrorism (LASIT);

To liaise with the Security Service in relation to National Security and Terrorism investigations, as directed.

The role works to the flexi policy and although based in Lancashire, you will be expected to travel around the NW region to attend meetings / manage staff at multiple sites. The role requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material daily and applicants must hold, or be prepared to undergo, National Security Vetting at Developed Vetting level before taking up the post.

If you are successful in applying for this post and are a member of police staff at a police force currently that is different to Lancashire Police, you will be required to resign from your current force and take up a contract of employment with Lancashire Police. UK Nationality 

You must be a UK National to work for CTPNW. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be considered. For the purposes of safeguarding national security, applicants will be required to hold or acquire the appropriate national security vetting clearance. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and therefore will not be able to perform their duties.

Vetting Requirements 

This is a designated post under the Force Vetting Strategy and the post will therefore applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) level before taking up the post.

For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.

As at 1st April 2022, the HR Secondment Model was implemented for all posts at CTPNW.  This means that all officer and staff posts that are based in Cheshire, Cumbria, Lancashire or Merseyside, are seconded to CTPNW c/o Greater Manchester Police.
