In this role you will provide specialist technology input across SYP and HP, delivering and supporting a wide range of applications that are critical to operational policing and the support services offered.
Key responsibilities:
Perform all specialist aspects of application support role to enable the team to provide ongoing support and maintenance for a range of critical applications, systems and platforms across both forces
Supervise Application Support Analysts in the absence of the Team Leader ensuring the best possible support is provided to force applications across South Yorkshire and Humberside Police.
Assist the Team Leader ensuring the delivery of the performance standards set out for the team and the individuals.
Provide support to the IS Team Leader in order to achieve departmental and force objectives.
Identify and implement improvements to current processes set up for providing IT support at both Humberside and South Yorkshire Police.
Ensure that pro-active monitoring of all applications takes place and that remedial action is instigated when required.
Will be required to work closely with all teams across IT to ensure an excellent service is given.
Promote incident, problem and change management procedures within the team and highlight ways to improve service delivery.
Assist in the development, installation and integration of system changes or upgrades, liaising with project management, third party suppliers, technical teams and system users during these changes.
Mentor and support the Application Support Analysts with new and complex workloads as and when required.
Stay current with new system and application changes and updates.
May be required to work outside normal hours and travel around and outside of the force area.
Skills and experience:
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Hold a degree and/or significant experience of working with Information Technology.
- Able to demonstrate a strong understanding of Systems Administration.
- Good communication skills both written and oral.
- Knowledge and experience of resolving problems at an organisational level.
- Able to remain calm under pressure, consistent in approach to daily tasks and committed to customer service.

Eligibility:
Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
