Job Title: JOU Firearms Instructor - HC622768
Location: Netley , Hampshire
Salary: SO1, £35,526- £37,692 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Closing Date: Tuesday 25th November 2025 at 23:59 hours
To develop and deliver all aspects of firearms training to Authorised
Firearms Officers (AFO) across Tactical Firearms and can also include
delivery to other Police departments, including non-AFO.
Key accountabilities include but are not limited to:
1 To assist with the delivery of firearms training to all AFO’s across the JOU
CTSFO South East Region as well as officers from other forces and agencies
ensuring the learning objectives are achieved as required by College of
Policing (CoP) firearms training licence requirements.
2 To assist with the design and delivery of AFO training programmes to
meet identified needs within the workforce.
3 To design and produce clear, concise and well presented training
support material, for use, before, during and after training.
4 To offer appropriate guidance to students, in order to facilitate their
personal development, understanding, and help them adopt suitable
responses to work related performance issues.
5 To liaise and consult with other training departments within armed
policing, wider operational units/departments, other forces and partner
agencies in order to identify, analyse and discuss a variety of training
solutions for the organisation.

Educated to QCF Level 3 OR work experience deemed to have
brought the postholder to a comparable level plus:-
Qualified and competent as an authorised firearms officer
within the CTSFO role and National Firearms Instructor within
the last 2 years.
Having completed 12 months of CPD/MRT and subject to a
successful review of their Firearms Training record by the
CFI/DCFI.
First Aid at Work qualification (or equivalent) D13 advanced or
be willing to obtain it.
To hold a national firearms instructors certificate.
Full UK Driving Licence.
You must have been a serving police officer from a Home
Office Force.
To have a significant experience in the police use of
firearms and operations.
