About the Role

As a Estates Management Surveyor, you’ll deliver a comprehensive building and mechanical & electrical surveying service across the PCC’s Estate Portfolio. You’ll play a key role in supporting strategic decision-making through detailed premises condition surveys, contributing to maintenance planning, budget setting, energy management, and statutory compliance.

You’ll lead on the coordination and procurement of contractors for capital and revenue projects, ensuring high standards of delivery and value for money. From managing communication mast certifications to implementing sustainability initiatives, this is a varied and rewarding role with real impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct building condition surveys in line with NPEG best practice.
  • Manage M&E surveying and construction services, including contractor oversight.
  • Lead planned maintenance and project works across designated properties.
  • Prepare specifications, feasibility studies, and tender documentation.
  • Administer construction contracts and monitor project budgets.
  • Support carbon reduction and energy-saving initiatives.
  • Ensure statutory compliance across the estate.
  • Provide technical advice and collaborate with partner organisations.
  • Respond to estate-related emergencies and support out-of-hours needs.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in building surveying, ideally within a public sector or policing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory compliance and health & safety regulations.
  • Excellent project management and contractor coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently across a geographically dispersed estate.
  • Commitment to the values and standards of the policing profession, including the Code of Ethics.
