6358 Duty Planning Officer

Gloucestershire Constabulary are looking to recruit a Duty Planning Officer to join our Duty Planning team, based in Bamfurlong, Cheltenham. Due to the location a Driving License and access to transport is advisable.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Duty Planning Unit, we have recently introduced an external platform to manage the Constabularies Duty Management and are looking to recruit the following post:

1 x Fixed Term Contract (22 months), 37 Hours per Week

The candidate will need to be motivated and committed to meet the demands of a challenging role, you will require excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate resilience and initiative within a busy team in order to meet day to day demands of the organisation.   

The successful candidate will have multiple responsibilities and in particular be able to:

  • Deliver effective resource plans for operational policing to meet the complex needs of a variety of business areas.
  • Maintain staffing levels for day to day policing activities, and for planned/spontaneous operations.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills to engage with departmental colleagues and supervisors.
  • Accurately record data in appropriate Force IT systems to enable the production of effective resource plans.
  • Act as a first point of contact for resource management enquiries.
  • Support the maintenance of the organisational skill base.
  • Produce reports and analysis to assist managers with future resourcing decisions.

    Notice for internal candidates: this role is advertised as a fixed-term contract. In the event that you successfully interview for this role, you will accept the role on either a secondment or fixed-term contract basis.

    You will only be offered a secondment subject to your current Line Manager’s approval - please note that there is no guarantee that management will agree to the secondment and there is no obligation for them to do so. It is advisable to liaise with management to see if a secondment would be supported before submitting an application.

    In the event that you are offered the role as a fixed-term contract, you should be aware that you have no right to return to your previous role and will leave the force when your contract ends. In the event that you have accrued two years’ continuous service when your contract ends, you may be eligible to be added to the redeployment register, however it is not guaranteed that we will be able to offer you a suitable alternative. When accepting the role on a fixed-term basis, you take the personal risk that your employment with the force may end at the end of the contract.
