What does the Financial Intelligence Officer (Opal) do?
Support financial intelligence development across all operational desks. Contribute to complex investigations, managing the financial dimension and supporting wider case strategy. Work closely with analysts and intelligence development officers across the unit to enhance financial intelligence capability.
You will be required to demonstrate in your application the minimum requirement for the role:
Knowledge:
- Extensive knowledge of police investigations and file preparation for serious crime.
- Current understanding of legal frameworks around indictable offences.
- Experience working directly with CPS and other prosecutorial bodies.
- Strong interpersonal skills for relationship management and training delivery.
- History of successful multi-agency collaboration.
- Experience of working in an intelligence led environment.
- Knowledge/experience of financial enquiries and evidence.
Skills:
- Outstanding communication and relationship-building capability.
- Proven ability to influence, support and coach across diverse policing contexts.
- Strategic thinking and real-world operational insight.
- Calm confidence in supporting sensitive and high-risk cases.
- A collaborative spirit paired with decisive leadership.
