Job Title: Policy Practitioner - Compliance & Assurance - Counter Terrorism Policing HQ

Salary: The starting salary is £38,926 pro-rota, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.

The salary is broken down as £35,998 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £38,523.  Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Job Summary:

As Policy Officer in Standards Policy Inspection Risk (SPIRA), you will work in a dynamic, established and mutually supportive unit to drive improvement and support consistency of intelligence handling within the national Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) Network. This includes but is not limited to the design and implementation of policy, guidance and working practices and being responsible for the provision of advice and support to colleagues across the Network.

A large part of this role is liaison; your interpersonal skills will successfully gather key information from the Network to deliver a high quality policy review/update. Building and maintaining key relationships to guarantee open collaborative dialogue with a diverse range of partners to understand the needs and requirements of the Network, and ensure SPIRA (Standards, Professionalism, Inspection, Resilience and Applications) set the expectation of high standards.

Key Tasks

  • Working with SPIRA colleagues to develop changes to policy, processes or guidance.
  • In consultation with wider SPIRA, provide direction and assistance in the development of policy and operational guidance.
  • Plan and deliver national workshops, conduct consultation with Network SMEs and stakeholders for the alignment of business change to the needs of the Network.
  • Work closely with Organisational Learning/Training functions at regional and national level for consistent delivery of business change whist forging strong relationships with regional colleagues.
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with a diverse range of partners inside and outside of policing at every level of rank and expertise for maximum value and effect of business change.
  • Work with all available communications channels for consistent and accurate message dissemination throughout the Network to support the SPIRA team.
  • Maintain transparent and accountable records.

Vetting

This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post; with a willingness to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) once in post, if required.

This post requires British nationality (some dual nationals may be ineligible) and an Enhanced Security Check (eSC)/Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.

As the post holder will have access to very sensitive information, there are limitations on travelling to a small number of countries and we will undertake additional security checks as part of the recruitment process.  Applications from candidates with close connections to certain countries may take considerably longer to process, or in some cases result in a withdrawal of an offer of employment.
