Greater Manchester Police is one of the largest police forces in the UK and is responsible for keeping its diverse population of almost three million people safe.
Greater Manchester is a vibrant region in the Northwest, spread over more than 1,200 sq km. Split over 10 metropolitan districts, it is billed as the most diverse city in Europe, whose residents draw on and contribute to its rich cultural legacy and collectively speak up to 200 different languages.
Recently awarded the ‘most improved force in the country’ after its latest police effectiveness, efficiency and legitimacy (PEEL) inspection in 2023, Greater Manchester Police remains committed to doing the basics of policing brilliantly, protecting the public, supporting victims and ensuring its workforce reflects the communities it serves.
GMP recognises that having a diverse workforce makes it more approachable and relevant to the public, and so we welcome applications from everyone.
GMP is the most improved police force in the country and effective performance management is at the heart of these improvements. This is a unique opportunity to work in this exciting field…
Monitoring the performance of GMP’s service provision to the public of Greater Manchester is a vital part of our business operation. As such, GMP’s Performance Developers play a key role in helping the force understand and report on performance. The main function of a Performance Developer is to work with customers to scope and to build innovative, intuitive, and user-friendly performance products (e.g. interactive toolkits and dashboards), which GMP managers and staff can then use to track and monitor the performance of their teams and business areas.
To succeed in this post, applicants need to possess strong technical skills in the use of Microsoft Excel, be experienced in manipulating and analysing large data sets, and will be able to demonstrate their experience of using these skills to develop interactive products for clients. Also key to the role are strong customer service, planning and project management skills, which Performance Developers need in order to work closely with clients, to ensure that performance management products are built to the required specification and delivered to deadline.
So, if you have a passion for performance, and have the skills and experience required to develop and deliver bespoke performance management products to support GMP in providing a quality service to the public, we want to hear from you. In return, we will provide a supportive work environment and offer training and support in using police and partner data sets and IBM Cognos Analytics.
