Salary: Band 8, £34,611 - £39,372
Location: Agile working across Etal Lane Police Station and homeworking, with travel to partner organisation premises as required
Hours/Contract: 37 hours per week, fixed term / secondment for 12 months

The role
Here at Northumbria Police, we think our region is amazing! This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our NLRF Team as a NLRF Analyst.
This role sits within the Northumbria Local Resilience Forum (NLRF), hosted by Northumbria Police, and supports tactical, strategic, and operational requirements across the partnership. The successful candidate will provide specialist analytical insight and guidance to senior management, helping to inform decision-making and drive effective prevention, response, and recovery strategies for major and significant incidents.
You will play a key role in supporting operational and organisational needs by developing innovative solutions that align with strategic priorities and tactical planning. The role also involves producing high-quality analytical products, making informed recommendations, and assessing threat, harm, and risk to enable efficient and effective multi-agency decision-making.
What you’ll do
- Analyse complex data from a wide range of sources to support sensitive business needs, including incidents, high-risk issues, and major events. Apply recognised analytical techniques and specialist software to identify patterns, assess threats, and produce detailed, actionable insights that comply with national legislation.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to shape future analytical capabilities, present findings through reports and briefings, and provide clear, objective recommendations that inform operational decision-making and drive strategic priorities across the Northumbria Local Resilience Forum.
- Respond at short notice to urgent requirements including life at risk situations and provide proactive live-time support across a range of analytical disciplines when requested, whilst managing existing multiple work streams.
- Complete data requests and provide analytical products for external clients including home office returns and ad hoc enquiries in order to comply with national requirements.
- Work closely with stakeholders at all levels across the NLRF and use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify issues by designing data collection plans and supporting managers in the creation of terms of references. Also liaise with projects undertaken within university projects including AI and Computer Science.

What you’ll bring
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, with at least two years’ experience in research or analysis. Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and produce clear, evidence-based recommendations.
- Highly proficient in IT, including MS Excel and SQL databases, with advanced data handling, analysis, and reporting capabilities to support informed decision-making.
- Able to plan and prioritise their own workload, prioritise and complete multiple responsibilities and projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrates initiative and strong problem-solving abilities, consistently applying critical thinking to overcome obstacles, explore alternatives, and identify effective solutions.
- Excellent communicator with experience of writing clear, detailed reports and presenting key findings, intelligence gaps and recommendations.
- Ability to build strong working relationships, demonstrating high level of professional credibility at all levels.

Terms of appointment
This is a fixed term role subject to a six-month probationary period.
