Following a recent review of the department an exciting opportunity has arisen with the HR And Learning Department (previously People & Organisational Development) for the role of HR Advisor.

Under the direction of the HR Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of professional HR advice for SYP leaders that covers all aspects of the employee lifecycle.

Building effective relationships with leaders you will provide professional advice on all employment matters including local workforce planning, employment law, interpretation of force policy, terms and conditions, Police Regulations and complex case management relating to attendance, performance and capability ensuring all cases are progressed in a timely manner.

You will support the HR Manager in the successful delivery of our force People Strategy and workstreams including organisational change and transformation, policy development and process improvements.

The role will work on an agile approach, including working from the HR & Learning base at Force Headquarters, Carbrook, with our customers across the Force area and working from home. The position will be Force wide covering areas across South Yorkshire therefore individuals must be flexible and be able to travel across sites as required.

Skills and experience:

In line with the essential criteria as defined in the role profile, the successful candidate will therefore have previous experience of working in a generalist HR function and will be educated to CIPD Level 5.  In addition the individual will have demonstrable experience of working in an HR function in an advisory capacity on a wide range of complex people issues covering grievance, capability, capacity, absence etc.

The individual will be able to evidence of critical thinking to assess risk and analyse available data and understanding on how to apply this when considering the impact of different performance management approaches

In addition, this individual will have a strong understanding of employment law, and an awareness of pending changes in legislation, how to apply it and how to identify and mitigate risk.
