Role purpose:

To investigate complex cases of Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking, ensuring best evidence is obtained to process and secure the conviction of offenders in accordance with relevant legislation and in line with the Plan on a Page.


Role specifics:

1.    Lead by example and behave in line with the Police Code of Ethics ensuring that the force values and behavioural expectations are clearly understood and considered by managers, officers and staff in their decision making and actions; reinforcing and influencing them through all interactions and processes.

2.    To investigate allegations of and manage organised crime groups in relation to Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking and Organised Immigration, using the principles contained in the Authorised Professional Practice (APP) and Force Policy and to ensure case files prepared for CPS are of a high standard, comprehensive and timely.

3.    Where necessary to utilise a range of surveillance and technical methods (in line with RIPA) to assist in the investigative process to ensure successful prosecution and conviction of offenders.

4.    To engage and work collaboratively with partners to combat Modern Slavery to ensure that victims are appropriately supported through the National Referral Mechanism (NRM) and safeguarded to make our communities safe and feel safer.

5.    To gather, develop and submit intelligence on Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking, including organised crime groups who pose the greatest risk to the public, to assist in the overall prevention and reduction of crime.

6.    To triage new intelligence and referrals to deem the most appropriate force response or resource for the investigation to be managed.

7.    To provide specialist support and guidance to staff in local commands in relation to Modern Slavery, to ensure that Force Policy is followed and best practice achieved for any investigations managed at a local command level.

8.    To engage in training and awareness activity in support of the force and other partners to raise the awareness of MSHT.

9.    Work in partnership with all related external partners, agencies and bodies, locally, regionally, nationally and where appropriate internationally, to ensure protection of victims and successful prosecution and conviction of offenders.

10.    Performs such other duties as reasonably correspond to the general character of the post and are commensurate with its level of responsibility.

Relocation:

Humberside Police offer relocation/removal expenses of up to a maximum £8000 to transferring officers who live outside the force area and at least 50 miles from their permanent place of work.

Eligible Criteria:

To be eligible to transfer to Humberside Police, you must:

  • Be a current serving officer in a Home Office force
  • Have no outstanding discipline or integrity issues
  • Have resided in the UK for three years immediately prior to submitting your application, or able to provide a Certificate of Good Conduct from the relevant country
  • Have successfully completed your probationary period with your Force prior to submitting your application

Due to the changes to entry routes for police officers and IPLDP no longer being an accredited training course, at this time we are unable to accept applications from police officers from Non- Home Office forces.   The reason for this is due to these officers requiring initial training which is now unable under the new programme.  We hope to find a solution as soon as possible.
