ERSOU - ROCU - Detective Inspector- HUMINT - CHIS Controller

An exciting role has arisen in the ROCU Dedicated Source Unit for an Detective Inspector as a CHIS Controller who is experienced in managing a busy source unit with a good understanding and knowledge of the management of CHIS reporting on serious and organised crime.

This role would suit a substantive DI seeking a lateral move or an officer supported by line manager and head of department to seek a temporary/acting opportunity at this rank.

It is desirable that you are trained and in licence as a Controller but not essential as a course will be available which must be passed in order to remain on the unit.

The unit is focused on regional priorities with the objective of gathering intelligence against those individuals and organised crime groups engaged in L2 criminality and presenting the greatest threat, risk and harm in our region.

The use of Covert Human Intelligence Sources to infiltrate organised crime groups is a well-established and legitimate tactic in the fight against serious and organised crime. The applicant will have the proven experience and aptitude to manage this new unit as well as drive the team forward developing new policies and standard operating procedures both with and in support of force DSU’s.

The unit operates from discreet premises located in the Eastern Region. The successful applicant must be willing to travel and work away from their current force area if required to do so. There is also a requirement to be flexible around duty times.
