This role is open to all Police Staff / external candidates who meet the essential criteria of the person spec, regardless of current grade.

About the role
The City of London Police are recruiting for an experienced Crime Scene Investigator or Crime Scene Manager to join the Scenes of Crime Department within Forensic Services
Forensic Services is an integral resource for the Force to respond to all crime types, critical incidents and provide crime scene management capability.
The role will include the identification and recovery of forensic evidence from a wide range of potential crime scenes, together with specialist photography. You will be expected to maximise opportunities for forensic intelligence in support of the National Intelligence Model. Working with deceased persons and attending post-mortems is also a role requirement.
The Scenes of Crime Department is a multi-disciplined unit. In addition to carrying out forensic scene examinations, CoLP CSIs are expected to review and assess all submissions made by investigation units, retaining ownership of all forensic aspects of their cases from crime scene to court. Forensic Services oversee numerous research projects with academic and professional partners, whilst providing opportunities to present lectures and outreach programs to numerous institutions. The role would suit individuals looking to broaden their existing knowledge and experience far beyond traditional crime scene work, including crime scene management and representing CoLP CSI management at a Force and national level.
Requirements
Essential:
You will have passed the part 1 & 2 CSI courses and be experienced in conducting forensic investigations at crime scenes as either an individual or as part of a team. You will aspire to the highest standards of work, providing the best possible provision to victims of crime via your passion for delivering justice and public service. You will be expected to provide a mixture of day, night and on-call shift cover to the organisation, which will necessitate working lengths of time unsupervised and solo-crewed. You must be self-motivated and confident in your knowledge and judgement.
The ability to communicate effectively across all elements of the organisation is paramount.
You will be aware that the work undertaken by staff in this role can often give exposure to traumatic scenes for protracted periods.
You will hold a clean driving license and will have worked in a CSI unit where the management of exhibits was commonplace.
Desirable:
Completion of a Crime Scene Manager course
Experience of working within an ISO 17020 accredited environment

Selection Process
As part of the initial application process, you will be asked to evidence how your experience, skills, and knowledge demonstrate your ability to meet the person specification of the role.
The application and interview will be tested under Level 2 of the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework.
The criteria for the interview process will be structured around the Policing
Professional Framework (PPF) testing candidates against the Personal Qualities
contained within the PPF profile
