About the Role

As the Supplies Officer, you’ll be at the heart of our uniform operations – from the first fitting of new recruits to the ongoing supply of specialist kit for operational teams. You’ll manage stock levels, liaise with suppliers, and ensure that every item issued meets the needs of our frontline teams.

You’ll also supervise the Stores Assistant and work collaboratively to meet daily demands, respond to urgent requests, and maintain a professional, efficient Stores environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the issue and replacement of uniform and equipment in line with Force policy
  • Conduct uniform fittings for new starters, ensuring correct sizing and comfort
  • Monitor stock levels and forecast future uniform requirements
  • Raise and manage purchase orders, liaising with suppliers to ensure timely delivery
  • Maintain the stock control system, ensuring accurate records of issues, returns, and disposals
  • Ensure uniform returns are processed and items are reused or disposed of appropriately
  • Support specialist operations with urgent or bespoke uniform needs
  • Ensure the Stores area is safe, secure, and compliant with health and safety standards
  • Manage specialist items such as PAVA spray and operational gear
  • Attend uniform user group meetings and contribute to uniform development and procurement

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Experience in stock control, uniform services, or stores management
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and supervise others
  • Proficiency in using stock systems and Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of health and safety in a stores environment

Desirable:

  • Experience in a uniformed service or public sector stores environment
  • Familiarity with specialist police equipment and procurement processes
