Principal Exhibits Officer (FTC/Secondment)

FTC/Secondment: 07/11/2025 – 21/09/2026 – full time vacancy

An exciting opportunity to support some of the most demanding, complex and challenging investigations dealt with by Thames Valley Police. You will manage all items of evidential material, exhibits and property seized (or that otherwise comes into Police possession) in the course of a Major Crime investigation, ensuring their integrity, secure storage and considering the evidential value and investigative opportunities of each item throughout the life of the investigation and Criminal Justice procedures.

The successful candidate will respond to requests from CPS for access by defence experts in relation to the examination of exhibits, ensuring that prosecution forensic experts are kept informed and engaged in the process while making the necessary arrangements to transport the required exhibit, maintaining security and integrity. Prepare for and attend trials, ensuring the safe delivery and secure storage of exhibits. Liaise with prosecution counsel, ensuring exhibits are available as required.

Capability to travel across the Force is required in order to undertake assignments in a timely manner and work flexibly. Due to unsocial hours and personal safety for lone working public transport may not be suitable. For this reason, a full driving licence is considered essential for this role.

This is an onsite role.

If you are a permanent member of staff applying for this role, please note it will be offered on a secondment basis. Important: All secondments must be supported in writing by your line manager and Head of Department/Commander or Deputy. Please send approval to RecruitmentPoliceStaff@thamesvalley.police.uk on submission of your application. If the secondment is not supported then a strong business rationale must be sent to RecruitmentPoliceStaff@thamesvalley.police.uk quoting the reference number for the role, on submission of application.

Please note: Shift allowance, on-call or other job-related allowances from the previous role will not be protected unless they are attached to the new role for the duration of the secondment.

If you are an ‘at risk’ member of staff, please apply directly to the At-Risk Recruitment Mailbox with your REI form and do not complete the online application.
