Job Title: National Chiefs Police Council - Business Support Manager - Hydrant

Salary: The starting salary is £44,132.

The salary is broken down as £44,132 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £52,652 

Location: Remote working nationally within UK. The Hydrant Programme is currently based at Moss Way Police Station, Moss Way, Sheffield. As such, occasional travel to this location will be required. In addition, travel may be necessary to the NPCC office, currently situated near St James's Park Underground Station in London, as well as to other police premises across the UK. 

Contract – Fixed Term Contract until 31/03/2026 (with the potential for further extension subject to funding and performance).

NPCC HYDRANT PROGRAMME  

The Hydrant Programme is a national policing programme supporting the work of the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) Child Protection and Abuse Investigation Working Group. Originally established in 2014 to coordinate the response to non-recent child sexual abuse but now supporting forces across all child protection and abuse investigation issues.  

Hydrant develops policy and strategy on behalf of the NPCC, develops and delivers best practice advice including a learning, review and improvement function, provides a strategic analysis capability and partnership engagement with key stakeholders and partners.  

THE ROLE 

The Business Support Manager is responsible for support to the National Police Chief’s Council (NPCC) Hydrant Programme and CSE Taskforce.  

A key part of the role is to support the Director and Deputy Director in the planning and managing of key governance meetings including CSE Taskforce Working Group, the NPCC Ritualistic Abuse Working Group, and internal Hydrant Programme Management Meetings and Team Away days. This will involve agenda shaping, liaison with attendees, third sector colleagues and senior Home Office officials and keeping an accurate record of all discussions and actions. The postholder will also be responsible for maintaining the link with other workstreams to ensure that the Hydrant Programme is appropriately represented at meetings and the Directors are prepared. The post holder is responsible for the supervision of the administration assistant within the administration team. The post holder is responsible for the running and management of IT with key stakeholders. 

The successful candidate would need to have the following experiences and skills: 

  • Experience of delivering business support within a complex environment. 
  • It is essential that the post holder works flexibly to ensure Hydrant Programmes objectives are delivered. 
  • Tasking, advising, and guiding administration team staff including day to day work requirements, welfare, and development responsibility. 
  • Undertake other activities and changing demands of the business support function commensurate with the post as may be required for the effective delivery of the Hydrant Programme business 
  • Engaging and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.

VETTING

Occasional national travel may be required. Travel expenses will be paid if location allowance is not being received, or when travel falls outside of the home to work journey. NPCC will pay for overnight accommodation if required.
