Senior Procurement Officer – Leading for ICT and Digital Services
We are looking for someone to join us a Senior Procurement Officer in our Joint Commercial & Procurement Services Department. Could you be who we are looking for?
About the team/Department you will be joining:
• We are seeking an experienced Senior Procurement Specialist to join South Wales and Gwent Police Joint Commercial & Procurement Services.
• The Senior Procurement Officers sit within the Strategic Procurement team, reporting to one of two Procurement Managers.
• You will work closely with a team of Procurement Officers, guiding client leads through complex tendering and contractual issues whilst ensuring value for money and continuous improvement in this area.
About the role and your key responsibilities:
• The successful candidate will be mainly responsible for ICT and Digital Services contracts.
• You will work with a project team with the aim of converging Gwent Police ICT with South Wales Police, including streamlining procurement contracts, collaborating on tenders and identifying commercial opportunities and risks.
• You will work closely with client teams in both Gwent and South Wales Police, offering specialist advice and guidance, participating with subject matter experts in planning and executing new procurement and re-procurement's.
• You will lead the commercial relationship with IT suppliers, ensuring that all commercial issues are negotiated effectively to deliver best value, to manage contract reviews and ensure effective contract performance management.
What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:
• To be successful in this role, you will be qualified to CIPS Level 6 or equivalent and have proven ability of drafting specifications, tendering, use of procurement frameworks, contracts management, providing professional advice on technical contract matters and a good knowledge of procurement procedures applicable in the public sector. The successful candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to MV/SC level.
The post-holder will benefit from flexible working policies, with a mixture of home and office based working. The base for the post will be South Wales Police HQ but the candidate must be prepared to travel to Gwent Police HQ.
