The Events, Rewards & Recognition team are looking for a volunteer photographer to support them at Force recognition events, such as attestations, award ceremonies and long service events. We are looking for a keen and talented photographer, who can use their skills to make a positive impact.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference.

It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.

In this role you will play a key volunteering role, as you will support at recognition events with photography for use in internal and external publications and will be tasked by the Events, Reward & Recognition Lead.

Catching key memories and moments of celebration are hugely important, and the photographs taken serve as a memory for the officer/staff/volunteer being recognised as well as being used for internal and external purposes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up the photographic area at event location, taking and testing shots prior to the commencement of the event using Force equipment.
  • Take and edit photographic images as requested at Force events, within the Force’s brand guideline.
  • Ability to follow event photographic briefing.
  • The photographer will be required to capture candid and posed shots/images of events.
  • Assist departments with the creation and editing of photographs to be used to promote policing in the Force area and to be sent to the individual/team/department.
Skills & Experience
  • Photographic experience is essential and experience working at events would be useful.
  • Need to be proficient with camera equipment, capable of taking high-quality images in different lighting conditions.
  • Experiencing of using photo editing software, such as photoshop.
  • Ability to work to a brief and within set timescales.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Creativity.
  • Eye for detail.
  • Punctual and organised.
  • Ability to travel independently to event locations.

The hours of this role will depend on the event calendar, but advance notice will be given. Events take place during the working day, evenings, and weekends. The volunteer will be fully briefed prior to the event.

Please note candidates selected to attend a professional discussion will be required to bring examples of their photographic work.
