The Role & Key ResponsibilitiesDo you have an enquiring mind and attention to detail and enjoy casework and report writing?
Do you have experience of mentoring team members?
Do you have a commitment to protecting children and vulnerable adults within regulated activity in the community?
This role requires you to assist your team supervisor as part of an agile team responsible for performing police checks and disclosure assessments for the Disclosure and Barring Service.
You will perform higher-level DBS checks and investigations on cases involving applicants who may be unsuitable to work in Regulated Activity, compiling disclosure rationales in accordance with the national DBS QAF framework.
Alongside your team Supervisor, you will be responsible for assisting with the recruitment and training of team members, monitoring performance and quality assurance, as well as working with the Supervisor and Disclosure Services Manager to formulate and refine working practices.
Skills & ExperienceYou should preferably have experience of working within a DBS unit or be a fast-learner.
You must be willing to work with, and assist your Supervisor with the running and supervision of a team agilely/remotely within required core hours Monday to Friday.
You will be a self-starter with excellent analytical, report-writing and problem-solving skills.
You will be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the relevant DBS national and practitioner protocols and safeguarding legislation, as well as solid experience in use of police systems such as PNC and NICHE, or a willingness to learn them quickly.
This role requires the flexibility and adaptability that a newly created team necessitates.

This vacancy will be based at Surrey Police Headquarters, Guildford although there is a requirement that the successful applicant will work agilely with their team from suitable force sites and home working according to best service and team dynamic.
Working hours are core office hours by negotiation with your manager.
Please note that this role has an 18 month tenure which precludes applying for other roles within Surrey Police for this period.
