Job Title: Personal Assistant

Salary: The starting salary is £38,926, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.

The salary is broken down as £35,998 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £38,523 Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Location: Westminster

 

As part of the Strategy and Transformation Private Office you will work at the centre of strategic planning and transformation in the MPS – not least on the development and delivery of NMfL2.  

Working either within, or between our Strategy and Transformation Directorates, you will directly support either a BB2 Director, or multiple BB3 Directors with comprehensive and professional executive support.  

You will provide critical direct support to senior staff or officers within the MPS including but not limited to managing their time & calendars, information flows, briefing papers and actions. You will provide high-quality administrative support to seniors in a busy directorate, needing to demonstrate exceptional organisational skills, the ability to prioritise and problem-solve, and engage with seniors and colleagues effectively.  

You will work as part of a broader private office team led by the CoS S&T (Band A) and you will directly report to either the Business Manager (Band B) or Deputy Business Manager (Band C) - both of these roles are also under recruitment to help build the PO function for the group. You will work alongside a number of fellow Band E and D Personal Assistants.  

You will need to adopt a proactive and adaptable approach to a range of activities. You will have regular communication with internal and external stakeholders, representing the director and the group – you will need to build effective relationships within and outside of the directorate and business group as part of this work.  

You will provide the backbone to the office of the Director (or BB3), managing their time and information flows in order to best support them, their people, and the work of the group.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Using strong communication skills to liaise with senior staff and officers, MPS Management Board members as well as internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supporting (and reporting to) the Deputy Business Manager or Business Manager to best support the Director or BB3 and their teams in delivering critical business. 
  • Planning and organising the principals time and work, supported by the business manager, in line with priorities and deadlines
  • Ensuring the principal has access to the right papers and documents for their meetings.
  • Monitoring the inbox and calendar, scheduling meetings with internal and external colleagues.
