Employee Relations Partner
Location: Leeds/Bradford
Contract: Full-time, Permanent (37 hours a week)
£42,897.00 - £46,503.00 per annum
West Yorkshire Police is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Employee Relations Partner to join the People Directorate. This is a pivotal role, responsible for delivering a high-quality, customer-focused Employee Relations (ER) service that supports workforce performance, engagement, and compliance across the Force.
As an Employee Relations Partner, you will:
•Lead and support a team of ER Consultants, ensuring consistent and effective case management.
•Provide expert guidance on complex employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, and capability cases.
•Advise on employment law, Force policies, and procedures, ensuring legal compliance and risk mitigation.
•Represent ER at formal hearings and panels, offering strategic advice and support.
•Contribute to the development and delivery of the ER Delivery Plan and support organisational change programmes.
•Design and deliver ER-related training to build manager capability and confidence.
•Maintain constructive relationships with Trade Unions and Staff Associations, supporting consultation and negotiation processes.
•Collaborate with People Partners and senior leaders to address local people challenges and priorities.
•Produce high-quality reports and insights to inform strategic decision-making.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
•CIPD Level 7 qualification (or working towards), with Level 5 as a minimum.
•Proven experience managing complex ER casework.
•Strong knowledge of employment law, HR policies, and terms and conditions.
•Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
•Experience in consulting and negotiating with Trade Unions and Staff Associations.
•Ability to lead and develop a high-performing, customer-focused ER team.
•Experience in designing and delivering ER-related training.
•Flexibility to travel across the Force area and nationally as required.
•Understanding of TUPE and organisational change processes (desirable).
