Volunteer - Independent Chair - Adult Out of Court Resolution Panel
Do you want to assist Thames Valley Police and provide independent scrutiny of decision making and the delivery of Out of Court Resolutions in line with TVP policy and the Code for Crown Prosecutors in order to increase transparency and public confidence and to contribute to TVP strategic planning process through the identification of themes and policy improvement? We are looking to appoint an independent Chair for TVP Adult Out of Court Resolution Panel (AOoCRP) to facilitate quarterly scrutiny panels meetings. The panel will objectively and independently review a selection of adult criminal cases that have been resolved by use of an out of court resolution, examining disproportionality and providing robust challenge so that the public can be assured and confident in their local criminal justice system. This is a unique opportunity to make a positive contribution and to share your expertise, as the Panel plays an important role in supporting the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner to hold the Chief Constable to account. Whatever your background or expertise, you will share our values to work impartially and with integrity and be motivated by public service and a desire to bring about genuine, positive change. You will have experience of effectively challenging and questioning information to make balanced, reasonable and proportionate judgements to improve the delivery of policing for our communities. Successful applicants will be appointed for 2 years. The Panel meets a minimum 4 times a year on-line and there is also a requirement to attend TVP Chair person’s forum meeting which meets quarterly. The Chairperson will receive an annual allowance, as set out by the OPCC Chief Finance Officer. Payment of the allowance will be contingent on performance and progress on this role's responsibilities. Oversight of performance and progress will monitored via the Local Criminal Justice Board Disproportionality group, Chair persons forum and TVP Trust & Confidence Strategic Board, with actions undertaken and progress recorded in panel meeting minutes and production of an annual impact report. This remuneration will be agreed and reviewed periodically by the Trust and Confidence Board Applicants must be over the age of 18, live, work or study in the Thames Valley area and be able to commit time to attend remote panel meetings during the working day. The successful candidate will be required to undergo Non-Police Personnel Vetting Level 2 abbreviated, for this role. Not all convictions will result in your failing vetting or being excluded from fulfilling this role.
