Hours: 37 hours per week (Full time) + On Call

As a Buildings Officer you will provide a professional service in respect of premise maintenance and delivery of minor capital works, understanding condition surveys and risk assessments of sites to ensure compliance with building legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a program of building maintenance and minor capital works, arranging work schedules and access to sites with clients and contractors, verifying contractor attendance, compliance with the requirements of the specification and the quality of work on site.
- Checks worksheets, organises any required remedial works and submits accounts updating in house database.
- Analyses items of reported reactive maintenance to identify recurring faults and identify problems.
- Ensuring the correct and safe implementation of building maintenance and minor capital construction work, or other related services, in accordance with current legislation and approved standards.
- Manages the Estates Service requirements on infrastructure and systems for Fire Risk Assessments (FRA), undertaking FRAs and updates to action plans to allow the Force to comply with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, 2005 (RRFSO).
- Meets with clients and stakeholders to provide advice and guidance on building schemes, preparing project contract information and details, obtains estimates and supervises until completion of the works.
- Provides on a rota -basis a 24-hour maintenance call out service for the processing of emergency items of building maintenance.

What the role requires:
- Has a HNC/D in Building Studies or related qualification, Relevant Health and Safety qualification, e.g. NEBOSH General Certificate.
- Has achieved or commits to working towards Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management.
- Possess an excellent understanding of the practical application of building maintenance/building engineering services repairs and maintenance processes.
- Substantial experience working in property management related environment.
- Experience of maintaining databases and researching data from computerised recording systems.
- Able to use general office applications, including I.T. / computer and financial monitoring systems.
- Demonstrates the ability to work and resolve queries with external agencies with a professional manner.
- Demonstrates the ability to make and justify decisions using own initiative and judgement.
