The Constabulary’s buildings and estate play a critical role in delivering policing across the County. The Estates and Facilities team have an ambition to transform the Estate to be smaller, better, greener and are now looking for 2 Site Officers to play a critical supporting role in that delivery.  What does the Site Officer role involve?

Your role will be working within the Estates and Facilities Team of 18 people reporting to the Estates and Facilities Technical Support Officer.

The Estates and Facilities Team support the Force by undertaking the security and maintenance of all sites force wide, responding quickly to emergency issues and making appropriate decisions as required in accordance with health and safety regulations. We are a small but collaborative team with a “Can Do” ethos.

We have exciting new construction projects underway including a new Police Station for Cambridge. We have 2 current vacancies so you will be based in either Cambridge or Huntingdon but will also provide support to outlying stations within Cambridgeshire. Every day is different, whatever your role in policing, so here’s an overview of your day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Monitoring the condition of the Forces estate
  • Daily review and implementation of repairs using the Repairs Helpdesk.
  • Initiate repairs and/or arrange attendance of appropriate contractors.
  • Raise purchase orders for materials, equipment, and services.
  • Maintaining accurate and systematic records.
  • Take responsibility the general security of the estate, including barriers, gates, access-controlled doors, CCTV, and alarm systems.
  • Health and Safety Administration

You will also have the following desired qualities. 

  • General handy-person skills e.g., painting and decorating, plumbing, carpentry etc.
  • General understanding of buildings e.g., boilers, gas, electrical, drainage and air-conditioning and air handling systems.
  • Basic knowledge of Health and Safety and fire regulations
  • Basic knowledge of COSHH legislation and control of Legionella legislation.
  • Ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
