Regional Science & Innovation Manager - Merseyside Police Careers
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 2-year secondment to work regionally within Merseyside Police, to undertake the role of Regional Science and Innovation Manager.
The role is open to substantive Chief Inspector/Inspector looking for temporary promotion to Chief Inspector, or Police Staff substantive Grade H/Grade G looking for temporary promotion to Grade H.
The role will be supporting the Regional Innovation Lead (from Merseyside Police) to raise awareness of policing problems, regional innovation and buy-in, whilst assisting in embedding Science and Innovation into business-as-usual structure and processes across Forces and regions.
The successful post holder will be a self-starter, who is looking for an opportunity to utilise their initiative on a daily basis, and collaborate widely across networks, to coordinate Science and Innovation activity at a regional level, whilst working in partnership with other regional innovation networks.
Candidates are asked to submit a 1000-word statement about how they meet the Just principles in relation to this role (utilising job description to evidence this) and in line with the Leadership Framework at Middle Manager level (Level 2).
Shortlisting will take place w/c 18th August (likely to be 21st August 2025 – subject to change) and outcomes to be provided soon after this date.
Interviews will be held at Merseyside Police Headquarters, on 1st and/or 2nd September 2025 and will be a competency-based interview based on the Leadership Framework. Anticipated start date will be the minimum 35-day notice period, so you must have Line Manager support for a release date in line with this. Should you be unavailable on the dates outlined, then please advise of this on your application.

Police Staff are required to relinquish their substantive post if the secondment duration is expected to be over one year.
