In this role you will focus on a renewed force-wide Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) training offer, which is centred on the training needs of South Yorkshire Police and is aimed at colleagues at all levels from across the organisation in a classroom environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Research, design, re-design and deliver Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) training force-wide,  identifying, and incorporating methodologies that are capable of meeting individual and organisational development needs with available resources and within specified timescales. 
  • Use an evidence-based approach and work with OD Advisors to identify development needs and the most appropriate intervention(s) to address these. 
  • Maintain learning/support materials and resources that enhance the development and maximise learner engagement and participation. 
  • Deliver interventions using a wide range of behavioural change/learning methodologies ensuring learners are engaged, motivated, facilitated, coached, and supported to achieve the intended outcomes.
  • Embed the ethos of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion as a ‘golden thread’ throughout the design and the delivery of training which will help support and underpin our aspirations of improving organisational culture.
  • Act as a coach and mentor to learners and colleagues, sharing own specialist knowledge and supporting the learning of others.
  • When delivering interventions, foster and maintain a safe, inclusive, and effective learning environment and determine appropriate assessment strategies to evaluate effectiveness of the intervention. 
  • Analyse evaluation results and utilise assessment analysis and stakeholder feedback to inform the development and continuous improvement of development interventions. 
  • Engage in evidence-based research and keep abreast of advances and best practice in OD and learning and development models and methodologies, incorporating these into OD interventions. 
  • Work closely with the OD Advisor and wider OD&C team to ensure the successful outcomes of the EDI training.
  • Be a visible role model; consistently demonstrate professional principles and personal integrity and promoting the principles of EDI at all times.
  • Maintain competence in own area of subject matter expertise, including knowledge and understanding of current best practice and underpinning academic theory.
  • Participate in networking opportunities, reflecting on practice, and sharing learning with peers in order to inform and improve policy, processes and practice.
  • Champion innovation and improvement by maintaining and enhancing knowledge and understanding of new approaches to OD interventions identified through evidence

Skills and experience:

  • Minimum Training Essentials Programme completion (College of Policing), level 4 Certificate in Education and Training or equivalent experience.
  • Experienced in delivering & facilitating complex and challenging training material in a classroom environment.
  • Knowledgeable /accredited in the subject matter which includes – leadership development, organisational culture, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Understands and applies best practices in designing, developing, and adapting OD interventions, learning materials and resources (including those associated with adult learning).
  • Skilled in teaching blended learning, and presentational techniques and able to select and apply these appropriately and flexibly.
  • Skilled in facilitation and effective communication - using questioning, listening and non-verbal communication techniques to give, elicit and receive feedback and to overcome communication barriers.
  • Able to identify and engage effectively with key stakeholders and to take appropriate steps to understand their needs and concerns.
  • Understands and uses models of group behaviour and group learning to plan and manage group activity and ensure effective individual learning.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
