Salary: £26,106 – £28,653 per annum (pro rata based on 18.5 hours: £13,053 - £14,326) NYP scale 4

Contract: Part time | Permanent

Hours: 18.5 hours

Shifts: Monday – Friday 9am – 12.30pm plus 1 hour

 

Customer Service Officer - Job Description

 

North Yorkshire Police are excited to announce we have a vacancy for a Customer Service Officer to join our dedicated front counter / enquiry desk team.

This role will put you at the heart of local policing assisting members of the public, police officers, and police staff with a wide range of services. This is a very demanding and challenging role, but it is an exceptionally varied, interesting, and rewarding opportunity to support your local community.

 

As a Customer Service Officer, you will look to provide a high-quality service to colleagues and members of the public. Other responsibilities will include:

  • Taking incident reports from victims of crime.   
  • Providing advice and support to members of the public on a variety of enquiries.
  • Being the first point of contact for all visitors to the police station.
  • Completing court-ordered registrations and managing bail appointments.
  • Handling surrendered firearms and weapons.
  • Processing seized vehicle releases.
  • Undertaking a wide range of administrative duties to support Front Line Policing.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  •  Excellent communication skills – the role requires verbal, written, and non-verbal communication skills, and the ability to adapt depending on the customer’s needs.
  • Previous experience of using Microsoft Office packages such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Experience of working in a customer service environment is desirable, however we do provide training and development on these skills.
