The role

This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Digital Policing Department as a Digital Product and Delivery Manager.
Reporting directly to the Head of Digital Futures and as a key member of the Digital Policing Senior Management team, the Digital Product & Delivery Manager will spearhead the planning and execution of the technical portfolio within Digital Policing.
This role involves leading a team of IT professionals and overseeing all aspects of planning, product management, portfolio management, and technical delivery. The Digital Product & Delivery Manager is crucial to the successful implementation of the digital change portfolio and the ongoing transformation across the Force. This position entails comprehensive oversight of all digital delivery, ensuring alignment with internal projects and national timelines. The role also requires the establishment and continuous improvement of product and portfolio management frameworks to ensure effective resource utilisation and meet demand.
What you’ll do
- Develop and implement long-term strategic plans that capture technical delivery and align with the Force's vision and objectives, including clear plan definition, dependency management, and resource constraints.
- Optimise the allocation of resources, including financial, human, and technological assets, to ensure efficient and effective use across various projects and initiatives.
- Ensure timely identification of potential risks and mitigation strategies to ensure the Force's plans are resilient and adaptable to changing circumstances.
- Establish metrics and KPIs to track the progress of strategic initiatives and ensure they are meeting the desired outcomes. Regularly review and adjust plans based on performance data.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather insights, foster collaboration, and ensure alignment with the Force's strategic goals.
- Continuously evaluate and improve planning processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and drive innovation.

What you’ll bring
- Excellent analytical and project management skills, with proven experience in product teams, preferably within a policing or public sector environment. Knowledge of digital transformation and continual delivery techniques, along with proven experience in portfolio planning and resource management within a technical landscape.
- Demonstrable experience of influencing and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to persuade effectively at various levels of the organisation. A good understanding of technical project delivery, along with experience in portfolio management and roadmap development.
- Ability to see the strategic landscape and exploit opportunities for optimal resource allocation against delivery. Knowledge and experience of utilizing burst resourcing to overcome demand conflicts.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with line management experience of both fixed and dynamic teams. Experience overseeing the delivery of technical initiatives and ensuring resource optimisation.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to adapt materials on a given topic to resonate with multiple stakeholders.

Terms of appointment
This is a permanent role subject to a six-month probationary period.
