Salary: £29,109 - £31,296

Location: Hybrid working, requirement to work from Headquarters in Northallerton 2 days per week, we also have offices across York & Harrogate.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and values led Diversity, Equality & Inclusion Co-ordinator to help turn ambition into action.  You’ll support the delivery of key DEI initiatives, work closely with colleagues across both North Yorkshire Police (NYP) & North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service (NYFRS) to help embed fairness, respect and inclusion into everything we do.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop, implement and facilitate actions arising from local and national action plans which support the organisations strategic aims and objectives.
  • You will identify the barriers that exist for our under-represented groups to recruitment, retention and progression and provide solutions to ensure we represent the communities we serve.
  • To provide advice and guidance to internal stakeholders at all levels, myth busting, celebrating difference and challenging bias to avoid less favourable treatment.  This will be supported by positive action, through engagement, you will increase awareness amongst our workforce, support network groups and that will affect a change in culture.
  • You will support under-represented colleagues, ensuring awareness of support network groups and positive action champions, tracking progress and drawing insights which will inform and improve our solutions.

 What you will bring to the role:

We are seeking a confident and self-motivated professional, who can work independently or as part of a team.  You’ll need to be comfortable taking a proactive approach, using your initiative to spot opportunities and challenge constructively where necessary.

  • Ideally you will be a member of the CIPD (or with an equivalent level of experience in a similar Diversity & Inclusion role)
  • You will be passionate about diversity, equality and inclusion with a working knowledge and understanding of the latest Employment Law such as the Equality Act and Public Sector Equality Duty.
  • Ability to build relationships and form deep connections with a diverse range of people and community groups, respecting everyone’s views
  • You will be confident yet empathetic and will be credible in your field making you accessible and approachable to your colleagues and stakeholders.
