Role: Data Collection Volunteer
Department: Humberside Fire and Rescue Service
Location: Humberside area
Hours: minimum 8 Hours per month
Contract: Permanent
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Humberside Fire and Rescue Service as a volunteer. This crucial role will involve completing Home Fire Safety Visits within the Humberside area. You will play an instrumental part in improving the work of our operational firefighters to deliver our home fire safety visits and key safety messages, educating children, young people and vulnerable people within the community.

Key Responsibilities:
- Visiting addresses identified to validate or update information to allow Humberside Fire and Rescue Service to communicate effectively
- Collecting information for the service, to ascertain if members of the public will meet the criteria for a Home Fire Safety Visit
- Supporting members of the public to complete surveys/consultation when necessary
- Inputting of data on to our information management system as necessary
- Distributing educational literature
- Signposting to our website for further information, advice and guidance
- Promoting the work of Humberside Fire and Rescue Service in the best way possible
Skills and knowledge required:
- Ability to talk with people from the wide community Humberside Fire and Rescue Service Serve.
- Warm, friendly and personable.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- An understanding of Data Protection and Confidentiality.
- Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information in an appropriate and professional manner.
- Ability to use a computer for data inputting purposes.
- Willingness to attend training sessions to learn basic safety education information.
- Ability to be flexible and offer innovative ways of working as part of an effective team.
- Ability to work well with others or on tasks alone where appropriate.
- Commitment to high standards of customer care.
- Willingness and ability to travel across Humberside where required.
- Act professionally, upholding Humberside Fire and Rescue Services Core Code of Ethics and following policy at all times

Pre – Employment Checks and Eligibility:
- Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria of at least 3 years continuous residency in the UK to apply for this role.
- Successful candidates will undergo a vetting procedure pre-requisite of employment. (Please note, with holding any information asked by the vetting department, may delay the vetting procedure, or result in your vetting been refused and the offer of employment been withdrawn)
