West Coast Collaboration Technical Analyst - Fixed Term Contract/Secondment

West Coast Collaboration is a four-force collaboration delivering Niche Technical and Support Services to Cheshire Constabulary, Dyfed Powys Police, Merseyside Police and North Wales Police on one Niche platform. This gives the partner forces a much richer picture and has achieved many benefits


WCC manages and executes Upgrades, new functionality, Requests for Change, System Administration and Data Quality functions within NICHE for four forces collaboratively and not restricted by geography. WCC also support local programme Portfolios where the product they are delivering interacts with Niche.


We are looking for a committed and outstanding individual with some background knowledge and understanding of Niche to join the team


This will help us manage the diverse workload and support the four forces in their use of one Niche system

 

Alignment to Merseyside Grade F:  (SO1/2 – PO1/2) £36,996 - £43,098.

Employment type: Permanent position, Secondment into WCC

Department: (F) Force-wide

Hours per week: Flexible working scheme as per home force Terms & Conditions

Working Days: Full time (Monday – Friday)

Travel may be required between Forces

Job Purpose

To be responsible for the performance, configuration, implementation and support of server hardware and software used by West Coast Niche. Act as a technical authority for this technology providing advice and recommendations to ICT leads across WCC, and users.

Support West Coast collaborations ongoing development of the Niche Records Management System (Niche RMS) platform, supporting ongoing innovation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a technical authority for the department on specific technology to provide analysis, advice and recommendations concerning new systems or changes and developments in existing systems and the impact on existing systems and / or users.
  • Design, configure, test document and pilot new systems to ensure they deliver the expected benefits to West Coast Collaboration.
  • Provide specialist technical back-up to User Support, responding quickly to complex issues concerning system availability and deciding upon the correct course of action needed, ensuring the minimal impact on the availability of the Record Management System.
  • Resolve complex issues and keep abreast of developments by Minerva and Niche and attend meetings when requested to do so.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • A Full Driving Licence is required
  • The post holder should be qualified to HND or Degree Level in an IT/Computer Science or a closely related subject or hold relevant equivalent experience within a similar role
  • The role requires an advanced, detailed knowledge of specific computer technologies/subjects such as Relational Database Management systems or server operating systems, along with an appreciation of the application of this technology within a wider computer system infrastructure.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in computer systems infrastructure would be suitable for this post.
  • Knowledge of system architecture, management, configuration, and performance.
  • Knowledge of interfaces with external, associated systems.
  • Experience in technical support, administration, and deployment of computer systems in a large-scale, distributed infrastructure.
