Job Title: Criminal Justice Committee Coordinator

Salary: Band A - £77,332 - £89.320. You will receive £77,332, the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £89,320 will be via incremental progression.

Location: Remote working nationally within UK. NPCC is currently based in close proximity to St James’ Park Underground Station, London and therefore occasional travel will be required to this premise and other Police locations across the UK. Contract – Fixed Term Contract until 31/03/2026 (with the potential for further extension subject to funding and performance).

Allowances: Secondees from the national forces/organisations, outside of the London area, are entitled to claim travel expenses incurred for the role.

NPCC CRIMINAL JUSTICE COORDINATION COMMITTEE
The NPCC Criminal Justice Coordination Committee (CJCC) aims to create a more cohesive, collaborative and responsive criminal justice system (CJS) that can more effectively address the needs of the community and reduce crime. This is achieved through leading on emerging issues that impact on the CJS, innovating and helping to coordinating solutions to complex challenges, and ensuring effective collaboration with stakeholders.  The Committee covers all areas of Criminal Justice and consists of several portfolios (each led by a chief officer), including areas such as charging, bail, courts, custody, disclosure, prisons and probation, case progression, out of court resolution, victims and witnesses, and restorative justice.  

THE ROLE

The post holder will provide support to the NPCC Criminal Justice Committee Chair ensuring the overall coordination and running of the committee is in line with the Policing Vision and the NPCC Strategic Plan, ensuring the Committee has a clearly defined plan for delivery.

The role holder will operate as an integral part of the NPCC Strategic Hub and be responsible for furthering productive working relationships between Committees, key stakeholders, and partners, as well as representing the Committee Chair and NPCC at key meetings when required.

The committee works closely with several key partners including Home Office, Ministry of Justice, Crown Prosecution Service, HMCTS, HMPPS, Sentencing Council, and Criminal Procedures Rule Committee.

The successful candidate would need to have the following experiences and skills:

  • Strong experience working in the Criminal Justice arena, including knowledge of the criminal justice system and processes.
  • Ability to demonstrate strategic thinking and consider how the police service operates in a broader societal and economic environment.
  • Ability to communicate with and manage senior and executive level stakeholders and create effective networks both within the organisation and externally.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills with the ability to intervene tactfully yet decisively when required.
  • An ability to gather and understand a variety of complex information and data to produce meaningful reports that can influence strategic level decision-making.
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyse and update reports on progress against delivery.
  • Ability to maintain highest levels of integrity, discretion and confidentiality.

VETTING

Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) at NPPV2 and CTC level before taking up the post.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Occasional national travel may be required. Travel expenses will be paid when travel falls outside of the home to work journey. NPCC will pay for overnight accommodation if required.

The Metropolitan Police manage HR for NPCC recruitment.
