Lincolnshire Police is inviting applications from substantive Chief Inspectors seeking promotion, as well as current Superintendents considering a lateral move. These opportunities are open to both internal and external candidates, offering a unique chance to step into a leadership role at a time of significant challenge—and to play a key part in shaping the future of policing in Lincolnshire.

We are recruiting to rank rather than to specific roles, offering flexibility and the potential to serve in a variety of operational areas. While appointments will be confirmed following the selection process, we anticipate opportunities arising across Crime, Local Policing, and Specialist Operations.

We are open and honest about the reality we face: Lincolnshire Police is underfunded, and the financial pressures are significant. As highlighted by our Chief Constable, we are currently in the ‘Engage’ phase of enhanced monitoring following our latest HMICFRS inspection, and we are working hard to address a projected £19 million budget deficit by 2027/28.

We are operating in a demanding environment, with increasing pressures on resources and growing complexity in the services we deliver. But we face these challenges with clarity of direction, strong undefined, and a deep commitment to performance and support.

What to Expect from the Process

The application process for Superintendent opportunities within Lincolnshire Police will open on Monday 2nd June 2025. The deadline for submitting completed applications is Sunday 29th June 2025.

The selection process will be held at the Lincolnshire Fire and Police Headquarters in Nettleham from Wednesday 30 July 2025.

Successful candidates who are not immediately placed will be held in a promotion pool for 12 months, pending future vacancies.
