We are excited to invite applications for a newly created Safeguarding Officer role within our Public Protection Department. This is a vital opportunity to contribute to the safety and well-being of vulnerable individuals in our community.

Location – Mid Glam, Bridgend/Pontypridd. Some travel across the force area may be required for meetings, training and engagement.

About the Role

As a Safeguarding Officer, you will support the strategic objectives of the Public Protection Department. You will work closely with partner agencies to prevent harm, investigate concerns, and ensure effective safeguarding measures are in place.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough and accurate risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with partner organisations to safeguard vulnerable individuals and support crime prevention and associated investigations.
  • Represent the force at safeguarding meetings and share information in line with legal frameworks.
  • Ensure all relevant information is gathered and shared appropriately to support safeguarding decisions.
  • Maintain and update person dossiers to support ongoing protection efforts and assist colleagues and partners.

What We are Looking For

  • Someone with experience in conducting risk assessments and working in multi-agency environments to support and safeguard vulnerable people.
  • Strong communication and information-sharing skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding individuals
  • A willingness to engage in continuous learning — training relevant to the role will be provided if needed.

The successful candidate must be prepared to undergo vetting to MV/SC level.
