Assistant Chief Constable (All Wales)
South Wales Police, on behalf of the four Welsh forces, is pleased to invite applications for the post of Assistant Chief Constable (All Wales).
The successful applicant will be the Executive Lead for the TARIAN Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU), Counter Terrorism Policing Wales (CTPW) and oversee the development and delivery of a wide range of collaborative programmes in Wales as the executive lead for Police Collaboration Wales.
As a collaboration between the four Welsh forces and linked to the National Counter Terrorism Network, CTP Wales provides an integrated partnership approach dealing with terrorism and extremism across Wales. This is in support of the Strategic Policing Requirements of the forces and HM Government's Contest Strategy.
The Regional Organised Crime Unit, part funded by the Home Office, Welsh Government and the three Southern Wales Police Forces is a multi-disciplinary team of Police officers and Police staff seconded from the three forces of Dyfed-Powys, Gwent and South Wales. With departments ranging from fraud and cyber-crime investigators to asset recovery experts and intelligence specialists, the teams are dedicated to disrupting and dismantling Organised Crime Groups across the whole of Southern Wales.
Police Collaboration Wales (PCW) manages and oversees programmes of work and ongoing projects on a three or four-force basis, including Sexual Assault Referral Centres, a new Tri-Force Forensics Service, Joint Scientific Investigation Unit, Go Safe (Wales Road Casualty Reduction Partnership) and coordination of pan-Wales rollout of Right Care Right Person.
Applicants must have successfully completed the Senior Police National Assessment Centre (PNAC) and the Strategic Command Course (SCC) or successfully completed, or are about to complete, the Police Leadership Programme (Stage 5 – Executive Leaders Programme. Non United Kingdom applicants must have served in an approved overseas police force rank. Applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
The annual salary is £120,489.00 and a car is provided for duty use (and private use subject to private running costs and tax being met by the post holder). The successful candidate will be expected to reside within the force area, appropriate relocation assistance can be considered in accordance with Police Regulations.
Applicants should already hold MV/SC clearance and there is a requirement to be vetted to DV level on appointment. The required employment checks will be carried out prior to appointment.
South Wales Police is committed to being part of the Welsh Language Commissioner’s goal of one million Welsh speakers in Wales by 2050 and our staff are supported and encouraged to improve their Welsh language abilities by either having at least a Level 2 standard to communicate at a basic level in the Welsh language or achieve it within 2 years of taking up the post.
