Lancashire Constabulary’s VGU MASH team is seeking a Safeguarding Support Officer to be based at Accrington or Blackburn.

The purpose of this role is to risk assess Vulnerable Person Reports also ensuring that the quality is of a good standard in order to share with appropriate partner agencies in MASH.  To liaise with partner agencies in order to provide the right support to keep children and vulnerable people safe, working towards the MASH purpose.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct multi-agency risk assessments on vulnerability reports. 
  • Engage in discussions with partner agencies in order to decide on the most appropriate intervention. 
  • In conjunction with partner agencies assess information about the likelihood of the referred person suffering harm. Ensuring sound decision making in relation to any future action is made in order to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults. 
  • To accurately record decisions on Police and Partner Agency systems and to share information appropriately in respect of Safeguarding and Early Help. 
  • To interrogate databases and research relevant information to assist in the identification and management of risk and protection of children and vulnerable persons. 
  • To communicate and liaise with professionals from divisions, departments and partner agencies to deal with a wide variety of issues. 
  • To provide close administrative support for MASH Safeguarding Co-ordinator including word processing, electronic mailing and the preparation of statistical data as required. 
  • To carry out any other duties which are consistent with the nature, responsibilities and grading of the post.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of working in partnership with other departments and agencies
  • Experience of working with minimal supervision, organising and prioritising own workload

Vetting and Medical:

Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting prior to commencing their role. You will also be subject to a medical assessment.
