Assistant Chief Constable

The Chief Constable of Suffolk Constabulary is inviting applications for the post of Assistant Chief Constable.

Why Suffolk?

Suffolk Constabulary is a highly regarded police force that has consistently received good and outstanding inspection reports. Our team is innovative, evidence based and forward thinking in our approach to policing. At Suffolk Constabulary, we are proud of our workforce and equally proud to police the beauty and variety that is the county of Suffolk.

We believe that policing is not purely about enforcement, but that as a senior leader your communication skills, compassion, and ability to build relationships are vital.

Our values of Courage; Compassion; Community and Professionalism are built into everything we do at Suffolk Constabulary. Our workforce culture is important to us, and sharing our values is important in ensuring we find and retain the best people.

This will ensure the constabulary continues to focus on being an ever more efficient and resilient organisation, one that is equipped to deal with future challenges, deliver innovative solutions tailored to the circumstances of the county’s diverse communities and is transformational in its approach to promoting public confidence and trust in the services it provides.

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced senior officer with exceptional leadership skills and a proven track record of positively leading and managing operational policing and change. The successful applicant will join a driven Chief Officer Team that is focused upon working collaboratively and in partnership with local communities, neighbouring forces, and other organisations. The post will be pivotal to further developing the outstanding policing services provided to the people of Suffolk and adapting these to meet changing patterns of demand, ways of working and available resources.

This opportunity to join Suffolk’s Chief Officer Team is open to existing Assistant Chief Constables or Chief Superintendents and Superintendents seeking promotion. Candidates will need to have passed the Executive Leadership Programme (ELP) or equivalent strategic command course. The Authorisation Officer Course (A7) is not a pre-requisite for this position, this can be delivered and completed after appointment.

Suffolk Constabulary is interested in candidates from outside the force who will bring experience and difference. We are offering a familiarisation evening on Tuesday 10th June, where you will have the opportunity to meet the Chief Constable Rachel Kearton and some of her executive team and representatives from across the force.
