Hours: x1 37 Hours per week (Full-time) & x1 22.5 Hours per week (Part-time)

The post holder will assist in the efficient and effective use of operational information and intelligence when responding to disclosure/Information requests via the Disclosure and Baring Service (DBS), Disclosure Scotland (DS) and Northern Ireland (NI) regarding individuals who may have reasonable access to vulnerable persons for employment purposes in accordance with legislation, national guidelines.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop a detailed knowledge of disclosure procedures and related legislation to provide advice and make decisions as to whether information should be disclosed. Guidance will be available from the Disclosure Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receives and processes enhanced disclosure applications via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), DS and NI or employment purposes where posts involve reasonable access to children and other vulnerable persons in accordance with DBS QAF and case law and responds to DBS Barring requests in accordance with guidelines.
- Interrogates a variety of Force systems in relation to completing enhanced disclosures on behalf of the DBS, checking details against local crime, intelligence, incident, and child protection/domestic violence information, along with the Police National Computer and Firearms licensing to ensure they comply with conditions laid down by the Home Office.
- Identify relevant information in accordance with the QAF in relation to DBS/DS/NI applications and information required to respond to Disclosure and Barring requests.
- Ensuring that risks to the Force which may affect its ability to provide business as usual now or in the future are identified and escalated to their line manager or local Risk Champion at the earliest opportunity.
- Maintaining a current knowledge of legislation, policy and case law relevant to the role.

- Excellent organisational skills
- Possess an awareness of the application and principles of the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Human Rights Act.
- Experience of working in a sensitive/confidential environment.
- Ability to work to schedules and deadlines.
- Previous administration experience incorporating a wide range of duties such as administrative procedures, telephone queries, record keeping etc.
- Excellent communication skills to deal sympathetically but positively with tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision when required.
- Carries out tasks in an accurate and methodical manner with an eye for detail.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritise workload.
