Chief Officer Misconduct Panel Chair
We are seeking a senior leader with recent operational policing experience to chair misconduct panels and help uphold the highest professional standards across our organisation.

About the role
As Misconduct Panel Chair, you’ll oversee misconduct proceedings under the Police (Conduct) Regulations. You’ll work alongside independent panel members to assess evidence, apply relevant legal frameworks and make fair, proportionate decisions.
You must have previously held the substantive rank of Assistant Chief Constable (ACC) or higher, and left policing within the last three years.
Key responsibilities
- Review case papers under the Police (Conduct) Regulations and relevant employment law
- Analyse complex documents and evidence
- Chair preliminary hearings and address procedural or legal issues
- Work collaboratively with panel members to determine outcomes and sanctions
- Produce clear, thorough written decisions explaining the rationale behind outcomes
What we’re looking for
- Substantive experience as an ACC or above within the last 3 years, with oversight of operational policing
- Skilled in chairing formal meetings and managing complex discussions
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation and procedures
- Confident decision-making with an objective, fair approach
- Clear, adaptable communication and effective interpersonal skills
Salary will be a daily rate as follows:
- Full day - sitting more than 4 hours (excluding meal breaks) - £650
- Half day - sitting 4 hours or less (excluding meal breaks) - £325
