We are looking for someone to #JoinUs as a Police Led Prosecutor in our Motoring Unit, Justice Services. Could you be who we are looking for?
About the team/Department you will be joining:
- We are a large team of staff based at the Motoring Unit in Cardiff Bay that oversees several criminal justice processes.
- The team work from the office and remotely.
- Office hours are 9-5 Monday-Friday. The role allows flexibility around working hours subject to business contingencies.
About the role and your key responsibilities:
- To prepare and present traffic related cases at Magistrates Court. This includes orally presenting to the Magistrates the facts of each case for sentencing including road traffic collisions.
- Ability to quality check files in readiness for presenting at court. Referring to the Officer in the Case where further evidence is required.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the appropriate documentation to deal with legal arguments, and case management actions on behalf of South Wales Police.
- Provide guidance and options to defendants present at court and to answer queries from the Legal Advisor, Magistrates and Defence Solicitors
What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:
- To be able to present cases at Magistrates courts, dealing with any enquiries, legal matters and applying for costs where appropriate, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
- Demonstrate a practical approach to problem solving
- To liaise with other prosecuting agencies and telephone queries from defendants where necessary and to resolve case related enquiries.
- To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of criminal/road traffic law, and other relevant legislation.

The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to MV/SC Vetting.
