An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Detective Inspector to join Opal – the serious, organised acquisitive crime (SOAC) National Intelligence team. We are looking for a dynamic, driven and experienced Detective Inspector (or Detective Sergeant on temporary promotion) to join our team. This is an incredibly exciting time to join us as we expand our capabilities and capacity.

Working to the Detective Chief Inspector and Head of Intelligence, you will be responsible for ensuring that we deliver on the SOAC strategy, building on existing relationships and creating new ones with partners both inside and outside of law enforcement including the NCA, Europol, ROCUs, the Home Office and other interested parties. We work extensively with partners from agriculture to business crime in order to make the UK a hostile environment for would-be offenders and prevent crime from occurring.

Experience of the world of intelligence or investigations is essential. Your ability to manage stakeholders is of crucial importance, as well as being an exceptional leader who can create enthusiasm, drive and influence team performance and motivate a young, diligent team of analysts, researchers and officers to create the very best intelligence products for policing.

The role is home-based but with some UK-wide and potential overseas travel possible. The secondment is initially for 3 years but will the possibility of an extension thereafter.
