If you would like to apply for this temporary post as a secondment you must have the prior approval of your current Line Manager and Head of Department. Please therefore ensure you have completed the ‘Police Staff Internal Secondment Declaration’, and forwarded it as instructed to obtain their sign-off. This step must be completed so the form is submitted as part of the application process, prior to the vacancy’s closing date. Your declaration form should be uploaded alongside your application form. Would you like to be part of a busy team which has an integral role in ensuring that firearms, shotgun and explosive certificates are issued to and held by responsible applicants within the area covered by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary?
We are looking for someone to work with us for 18 months ensuring that certificates are only held by people within the region that meet our exacting standards. In this role you will be responsible for conducting enquiries for the granting, renewal and where necessary the revocation of firearm, shotgun and explosive certificates. This will necessitate you undertaking high level risk assessments to ensure public safety and identifying breaches of legislation which may result in court action.
This is a challenging but rewarding role, and while development training will be provided, applicants should provide evidence of experience in the areas of firearms and the relevant legislation.
If this sounds like the job for you we would love to receive your application.
