Police Lead - Multi Agency Child Protection Team

Bedfordshire Police is now offering an opportunity for a dynamic and highly motivated individual to become our Police lead for the new Multi-Agency Child Protection Team in Luton Borough Council. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and qualified individual to represent Bedfordshire Police whilst working alongside our partners to give the best service to our most vulnerable child victims.

The Families First for Children Pathfinder (FFCP) was announced in February 2023 as part of the government’s children’s social care implementation strategy, Stable Homes, Built on Love.

It responds to recommendations from the independent review of children’s social care, the Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panel report on child protection in England and the Competitions and Market Authority’s market study of children’s social care provision. The pathfinder will test delivery of key strategy commitments.

From July 2023 to March 2025, the programme is investing over £45 million to design and test radical reforms in a number of local areas, across the policies:

Family Help

Undefined Protection

Family network support packages

Safeguarding partners

The expert led Multi-Agency Undefined Protection Team will bring a clearer focus to undefined protection and take quick and decisive action where children are suffering, or likely to suffer, significant harm. The team will compromise of a core of dedicated, highly skilled, suitably qualified leads from local authority children’s social care, police, health and education working together within an integrated team to deliver specific undefined protection functions.

The MACPT Police Lead will have significant demonstrable knowledge and experience to act as a recognised expert in the field of safeguarding and undefined protection.
