Trainee Collision Investigator
We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Forensic Collision Investigator to work within our Forensic Collisions Team. As a trainee, you will be conducting, with supervision, detailed investigations into fatal/life threatening and any other incidents involving motor vehicles. To do so you will apply mathematical principles to determine their cause.
You will support and assist in securing the environment, where the public can use the road with confidence. You will also support internal and external customers ensuring forensic processes and policies are adhered to.
We will provide significant training, both locally and residential away from North Wales so you are supported and confident in the role.
You will be required to undertake a minimum of 18 hours per annum for your continued professional development, this will be significantly more in the first few years as we are looking for someone who will work towards gaining a suitable qualification at NVQ 4, or relevant equivalent further education qualification, and/or has an equivalent amount of relevant work experience. You should also have a proven mathematical ability.
What you need to apply for the role?
You will work towards preparing technical reports, and have experience in questioning and interpreting information to be able to convey technical principals by assessment. You must have excellent oral and written communication with the ability to work well on your own or as part of the team.
This is a difficult role, so you need to be able to work under pressure and in stressful situations. Having the ability to organise and prioritise your work is essential. The role requires someone who has practical ability or aptitude in relation to the examination of motor vehicles, their design, technology, construction and handling characteristics.
There will be an expectation to support the departmental needs around auditing, gaining and maintaining accreditation which will require you to gain knowledge of International Standards and relevant guidance material: BS EN ISO/IEC 17020 :2005, ILAC G19 and Forensic Science Act & associated Codes of Practice and Conduct within 3 to 6 months.
