PVP Detective Constable

We are currently looking to recruit Detective constables into the Protecting Vulnerable People Team (PVP) based at Kempston HQ and Luton.

Applications are invited from substantive PIP2 qualified detectives, those already on the PIP2 pathway and Constables wishing to complete the trainee investigators programme.

The PVP team is a vital part of Bedfordshire’s Public Protection Unit and is made up of a team of dedicated and driven professionals who are committed to safeguarding some of our Counties most vulnerable children and adults.

PVP lead on investigations into a wide variety of offences involving children and vulnerable adults whilst working closely with our partner agencies including Social Care, Health, Education, ISVA Service and NGOs to establish a victim-led approach to investigating. PVP also lead on investigations into unexpected infant and child death.

The successful candidate will work alongside Detective Constables, trainee detectives, Investigation officers and Victim engagement officers. PVP lead on crime investigations perpetrated against children or adults (with care and support needs), and where the perpetrators hold a position of trust, i.e., parent, carer, teacher, sports coach, etc. PVP also oversee all Serious Sexual Offences (S1 and S2 SOA 2003) committed against Children aged under 16.

We are looking for a highly-motivated, professionals to join our team. The successful candidates will have a passionate, professional and inclusive approach towards serious and complex crime investigations, and an understanding of safeguarding, however we are willing to support development in these areas for the right candidates.

Successful candidates will be supported to enhance their detective skills through accreditation for SCAIDP and SSAIDP specialist investigator programs, and via other specialist development opportunities.
