College staff are classed as Public Servants and we are not eligible to participate in the Civil Service transfer process, therefore while successful candidates can transfer in on their existing terms and conditions, any subsequent transfer out of the College to the Civil Service cannot be guaranteed on existing terms and conditions and new starter/modernised terms may apply.

Job description
We look forward to reading your application for the role of Learning Design Specialist.
The selected candidate will join the Learning Design team at the College of Policing. Our work covers a huge range of specialist areas within policing and we are looking to recruit a fixed term learning design specialist to join us.
The successful applicant will work within our friendly team to plan, design, maintain, develop and quality assure a range of modern, effective blended learning programmes for both classroom delivery and via our internal learning platform. These will be designed by you and then handed over to trainers in force for delivery.
Design specialists are involved in all elements of creating learning programmes; researching, designing, planning and evaluating a range of learning products.
You might work on a product that needs to be reviewed to ensure it is legally accurate and accessibly designed, or you might design a new learning product aligned to the National Policing Curriculum.
You will work with policing professionals, academics, and subject matter experts to develop your understanding of a policing topic and ensure that the content is accurate and appropriate for police professionals learning needs. You will use project management methodology to record and monitor progress on work and to manage risks and issues.
Learning Design Specialists must have excellent communication and engagement skills. You should be committed to supporting the training and professional development of the police. You should be able to quickly form successful working partnerships to help analyse learning needs and should use your knowledge of adult learning to develop creative and high-quality products which make measurable change.
Person specification
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- The design and development of creative learning solutions using a wide range of methodologies; making best use of evidence in adult learning theory and engaging and consulting with internal and external stakeholders including SMEs and practitioners representing all ranks and roles including senior leaders.
- Support stakeholder consultation and creative design events to explore learning requirements and translate into learning solutions.
- To continuously improve College delivered learning products through the implementation of maintenance schedules, based on feedback, impact evaluation, and changes to policing needs.
To be successful in this role youll need:
- A Level 5/6 qualification in Education, Learning Design, Professional Development or related discipline and/or significant equivalent experience
- Demonstrable experience of creating learning resources which utilise a wide range of learning methodologies to inspire and develop learning in new ways
- Skills in research, consultation and analysis of information from multiple sources to identify clear, appropriate learning and prepare supporting options papers.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite, Microsoft 365, learning design software and knowledge of remote learning platforms such as MS Teams.
