Job Title: Operation Soteria Communications Lead

Salary:  Band B The starting salary is £59,839, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.

The salary is broken down as £56,911 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £69,342 Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Location:  Remote working nationally within UK with occasional travel to London

Contract – Fixed Term Contract until 31/03/2026 (with the potential for further extension subject to funding and performance).

THE NATIONAL POLICE CHIEFS’ COUNCIL (NPCC)

Operation Soteria

A joint NPCC, College of Policing and Home Office team has been established to support the national implementation of Operation Soteria.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to be at the centre of change to improve policing’s response to violence against women and girls.

We are seeking applications from individuals who are experienced in policing structure, policy and procedures particularly in relation to VAWG (especially RASSO). An individual who is able to work under pressure, managing a range of activities, working independently and as part of a team with confidence to interact with a range of stakeholders.  You will have awareness and experience of liaising with stakeholders both within and outside the police service and an understanding of Soteria.

THE ROLE

Colleagues from the NPCC, College of Policing and Home Office make up a joint team  to support the national implementation of Operation Soteria.

We are seeking a highly strategic communications professional to lead NPCC’s communication strategy in policing’s response to rape and other sexual offences and the implementation of Operation Soteria Bluestone.  

This role is a unique opportunity to contribute to a programme of change that will significantly improve the police response to rape.  We also aim to increase women and girls’ confidence in the police, and this role will play a pivotal role in championing audience specific, insight-led, integrated communications that build confidence.

This role will deal with complex, sensitive and high-profile issues at a strategic level and include hands-on delivery in as well as management of overall delivery.

This will require negotiation and coordination across several agencies, working across complex structures and building effective relationships with Government departments and third sector stakeholders.

Putting the victim at the centre of all work developed is vital in rebuilding trust and confidence and the role holder should be skilled in ensuring this happens.

VETTING

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Occasional national travel may be required. Travel expenses will be paid if location allowance is not being received, or when travel falls outside of the home to work journey. NPCC will pay for overnight accommodation if required.
