The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role & Key ResponsibilitiesThe Role
To deal with, in a professional and courteous manner, all visitors to Surrey Police Headquarters. To provide an efficient and effective service to all users of facilities at HQ and to deal with all enquiries in an efficient and polite manner.
Once in post, to take a proactive approach in gaining knowledge of key contacts within other departments.
Key Responsibilities
As a receptionist you will ensure that the Reception Desk is opened and closed at the published times.
You need to have the ability to deal with visitors with varying needs, which requires the need to act appropriately and professionally with a caring and approachable manner.
Operate security barriers using monitors and microphone link.
Receive and make sure that all necessary booking-in procedures and vetting checks have taken place with all visitors to the estate.
Receive and deal with enquiries in relation to parcel and mail deliveries.
To be flexible and harmonious in your approach to the role with reference to the cover of other members of Reception staff during periods of annual leave or sickness.
Skills & ExperienceIt is essential for the post holder to demonstrate the ability to work calmly under pressure but still cope with the situation, whilst multi-tasking effectively.
It is essential to have excellent communication skills and be a team player supporting other team members when necessary.
It is desirable to have one year’s previous experience of work in a similar environment, dealing with customers/visitors in a face to face setting.
You need to be computer literate, with a working knowledge of Microsoft or Windows based packages. To have the ability to learn bespoke computer systems.

Further InformationThis role is based at our Headquarters site which is on the outskirts of Guildford, in Artington (approx 1.5 miles outside of Guildford Town Centre). There is free on-site parking.
The working hours for this role are as follows:
Monday 0800-1600
Tuesday 0800-1600
Friday 0700-1500
